Description

Who Was Bob Ross?

He was one of the most famous painters of the 20th century, yes, although it takes a little to believe it.

He had a good use of technique and his ability to teach painting was very efficient. For many, these qualities do not make you an artist, others claim that their images are all the same and that they simply represent another teacher.

What do we know about him?

Bob Ross wasn’t always a painter. Before he appeared on television he was enlisted in the United States Air Force and became a sergeant, but he quit to pursue his passion.

And then, as in the rest of the great story, a great opportunity happened. A painter called Bill Alexander and he gave him one of his workshops. He attended this course Annette Kowalski, who would be your representative.

Anette counted in an interview when she went to class she was depressed by the death of her son, but the way Ross taught her to paint surprised her and managed to get her out of the depression. There he decided to become his representative.

First a phone line was set up so people could talk to him, but soon the 01800-BOB-ROSS was so successful that the TV show started.

The joy of painting; an icon of world television

This TV series had 12 seasons and more than 400 chapters that were broadcast from 1982 to 1994. Each chapter had 30 minutes in which Bob Ross created landscapes of oil full of happy trees.

He believed that anyone could paint a picture they were proud of, and although not half of his followers painted it, he was famous for having the ability to connect emotionally with people … who could deny it? Didn’t you love the squirrels who inhabited this happy forest?

We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents!

What you didn’t know about Bob Ross

Maybe some hearts break with what they want to read, but Bob’s pictures and phrases weren’t that spontaneous. He tried out what he would say the next day every night, and he was such a perfectionist in fact that he painted the same painting three times; One was related, another was the one who painted in the program, and a third, more detailed, was published in his books.

Another curiosity about this painter is that his signature mane was fake … Right, Bob Ross had straight hair and decided to go permanent to save haircuts. In the end, he hated the Chinese but couldn’t change them because of the program.

Ross died of lymphoma in 1995 and spent his last days with Kowalski on a bench overlooking a lake.

Whether he was an artist or not and even without his mane or special phrases, this man taught us two important things in life: Everyone can paint (even if it is about friendly squirrels, trees or mountains) and that we do not make any mistakes, only happy accidents.
